I thought Dove migrated south in September, but I have 2 that live in my backyard. I keep a bird feeder for the finches and redbirds and such and the dove feed off what they knock to the ground. Are these a different type of Dove or are they just lost?

We now have a winter season. They either migrate through or don’t leave at all like the geese. I had 40-50 at the feeder during a deer hunt recently.

We have a grove of trees that is about 22 acres on one of the farms. It's a dove roost all summer for hundreds of dove and now in the winter for the mourning dove that don't migrate south.
When you walk through the hedge apple trees, they flush in front of you like quail. I've never hunted the December season as it's also a deer hunting area, but it would be a fun hunt.
