It's intersting that our only remaining national newspaper is reducable to politics. Science, history, art, these things mean nothing. POLITICS: That's all that matters. Knowledge is liberal. Best not to know anything about anything.
In my own anecdotal experience the people who are most chritical of the New York Times, are people who have never put their hands on it, or any other newspaper in their entire lives.

Your experience is limited then

The NYT doesn't owe anyone an "apology" for what the ATF did - all this really was about was establishing that they are "sensible" anti-gun folks who themselves would never have supported such an effort. Then they blamed the NRA for causing the root problem by blocking serious gun laws. Then they proposed the same trash they alsways have - restrict guns in the US generally because in some particular cases guns can be used to cause trouble/break the law. Constitution be damned - no need to Amend simply ignore it or declare it really "now" means whatever we want it to mean. Thus "Congress shall make no law..." turns into "Congress should pass more laws banning..."
