Dang what a story.. Great Buck!! hope someone would do the same for my kids in that situation.

Poor kid is ruined for life now. Probably won’t ever see a buck that big in his life.
Ehh.. eighth grade now so he’s in high school next year. Probably gonna be chasing a different kind of rack and tail if you know what I mean.
No kidding. I got permission to hunt a ranch in NC Ok once with the stipulation I get his son which was a first time hunter a buck.
Kid was 11 years old using an open sight hawkins muzzleloader in 54 caliber.
We didn't make it out of the truck 50 yards when a buck came out of a sand plum thicket on a dead run.
Kid shot from the hip and dropped it at 50 or so yards. (Probably more accidental than on purpose)
I would have been proud to put that 11 point on my wall.
Don't hunt that ranch anymore and haven't kept up with the kid as that happened well over 15 years ago but I bet it certainly spoiled him in future hunts.
I would like to be ruined for life also...
That was my first thought.
