I am very fortunate that I have a great dad. He is not perfect, but he has loved me unconditionally my whole life. He taught me my love for freedom and firearms, for that I will be always thankful.
Growing up my dad was a blue collar factory worker and my mom stayed home. They raised four of us and very rarely had money to spoil us (we did however never go without). Some of my fondest memories were going to “pay bills” on Saturday mornings. We would go to Sear’s and Montgomery Wards and look at the gun counters. My dad had ALWAYS wanted a Ruger Mini 14, however was never able to acquire one due to the cost and lack of disposable income. A few years back I snagged an 80 series Mini at a pawn shop in Oregon and started the process of cleaning it up and adding a few extras. I sent it to an FFL in his home town, flew in to visit for a week and we just “happened” to swing by the shop and see a big box on the counter with his name on it. He was tickled pink. It was great to be able to bless my dad with something he talked about for 40 years.
