Long ago before the internet I heard deer fat was awful (cant remember where though), goes rancid while in the freezer.

Within the last few years I ran across some website where they saved and used all their deer fat.

I know there is lots of experienced folks here, so what is your take on deer fat?

We don't use it, other than to feed to the dog. It's not like beef fat that adds flavor imo, it does just the opposite.

Sure, anything if it ruins the flavor lol.

I sold a muzzleloader to a guy yesterday who was telling me about his wife rendering the lard from deer and wild pigs. He said they use it for all kinds of stuff that you would use regular grease for.
