Give me a good ol' 70 series GI with good sights. I don't really need a beavertail, checkered front strap, ect. As long as it has a match grade barrel and external extractor I'm happy.

If I had an extra grand in my pocket, and a 1911 was on my wish list, I would get one of these...

Smith & Wesson Gunsite model...

It's just your basic, simple, no-nonsense .45 auto. Single sided thumb safety, basic commander style hammer, beavertail, Videcki style trigger and a decent set of Novak's on top. Not a bunch of extended this and extended that. Just your basic combat .45.

Now then. :w000t:

If money were no object, meaning nothing to me, and I had about $2300 to spend :yikes2: I would get one of these...

It too is a simple, no-nonsense .45, but just slicked up a little. Read the write up about it in Shooting Times here...

Hey GED, I've got one of those Gunsite 1911's. It is my first 1911. I was looking for something in a 1911 variety that was light enough to carry comfortably. I stumbled across one of these right here and bought it. I love it, but the bad thing is that it makes me want to buy another 1911...
