Well thanks to the Kenyan sh*t stain, I just got a letter informing me (after thanking me for my business, naturally) that BlueCrossBlueShield of OK is hiking my insurance rate nearly DOUBLE for my family starting in January. They couldn't even quantify the reason other than "there are many factors, including the cost of health care, but primarily due to the afforable health care law" blah blah blah. My coverage hasn't even been active a full year yet (started in July). This is also after they've started denying coverage for treatment/meds on my kids by calling them preexisting (which they weren't when we signed the contract back in July, eventhough it was all disclosed then).

I'm about to go ballistic. FBO. Hope you all get out and vote right tomorrow.

Yep - got one too. Took out a policy on myself after going a year and a half (and one surgery) without insurance. They haven't even withdrawn the first payment from my bank account and I got the letter that it was going up first of next year.

Can't wait for mine... I'm with BCBS and they don't even have any providers within 50 miles of me that I can find, so I can't go to the doc. No way I can take a half-day off for that. I'm sure my rates for my unusable insurance will go up in Jan from the $1100+ a month for my family now. :(

Curious, OP, you said your rates are doubling. Does your employer also pay a good portion? Mine pays about... 65%. Which I think we get taxed on now, too, don't we?

No, unfortunately we're on our own plan since I'm in business for myself. You're right on the tax thing if I recall, it will be taxed as income to you now.

Employers must disclose the value of the benefits they provided beginning in 2012 for each employee's health insurance coverage on the employees' annual Form W-2's[52]. This requirement was originally to be effective January 1, 2011 but was postponed by IRS Notice 2010-69 on October 23, 2010.[53]

The biggest change on Jan 1st is with the FSA's. You will no longer beable to use your FSA account to purchase OTC meds or anything else you dont have a script from the Doctor for
