I love my 5" SR1911, especially since pairing it with a Kimber .22 conversion. Now I'm trying to justify adding the CMD to the collection. Shopruger.com has a lot of good holster options, and I have their Mitch Rosen. It's a nice leather holster, and not having to wait for months was a nice bonus.
I carry a LW Commander. IMHO the Ruger in full size or Commander is a $850 plus firearm. You did well, DTannar pm me & I will try to get you some info on a guy who makes wonderful custom holsters and at a GREAT price. Am going on a Elk hunt Friday, will try before I go if not when I get back. PM me as a reminder.
Commander size 1911 is really hard to beat and Ruger has a great product for the money with their offering. Surjimmy is right about custom gun leather but if I were looking to buy a leather IWB holster without waiting, a Milt Sparks Summer Special is my favorite and it's in stock here:
