Do not cut out the rust. It is better to let someone who wants to fix it, do it. It's like when someone takes a hammer and beats a dent back out, thinking they helped the situation.

I need to go through it better, haven’t had the chance since getting home. 5 days down in Galveston, 1300 miles driven, 16 hours of sleep. Got pretty sick and trying to get better. I’ll be able to give it a good once over this week.

A sock full of ground coffee works pretty well for absorbing smoke odor. Bought a used car several years ago that had a pretty strong smoke smell, a friend who details cars gave us the idea.
That ozone thing is interesting though, hadn’t ever seen one before.
