This is my first foray into a GP100's internals. All the stuff you've ever heard about these being tough? It's true. Very, very true. They are built like freaking tanks! The cylinder stop and crane lockup with the frame are really impressive. If old Bill would have put a little Colt Python style hand polishing into the internals and some lighter springs I'd think these would have given the L frame S&W's a real run.

Jeez, they strip quick, too. I might blast mine now that I know how easy they are to take apart.

Get off my lawn.
I cleaned mine up. Couldn't tell much difference after so I didn't take any more pics. The bore was spotless. The gun seemed to have been cleaned and well taken care of. Any gunk on it was still very light oil with a little dirt mixed in. Mostly wiped right off. I wiped the whole thing down with some CLP and got in all the nooks and crannies. Here is a picture of the rag I used. It was new when I started.

Well, mine was filthy! I hit mine up with some carb cleaner and stripped it down. Cleaned the hell out of it, the bore is spotless, had to use a little steel whool, oiled it back up again and now I'm impressed! There's still a few scratches but they might be able to be buffed out. I dunno.
