Seems we did the same thing to the Afghanistan's who helped us when our President 'Joe Biden, rushed us out of Afghanistan.
But it was back then it was President Ford and his administration who just as we did in Afghanistan, packed up and abandoned the South Vietnamese who had helped us.

Actually Ford only pulled us out after Congress refused to continue funding the 1:1 replacement agreement we had signed in Paris with the North . Once funding disappeared we had to stop all military assistance to the South. Probably should blame the democratic Congress . Ford could not fight a war where he had no money to allocate to the purpose. Biden did something entirely different

The first night I stood watch in Great Lakes, Ill, there was a fellow about my age (18) that was on watch with me. His family had fled Vietnam in 1975 and he had a lot to say about our leaving.

He was glad to be in the US and grateful for the opportunities to be sure - but his thoughts on us pulling the plug like we did were not kind, and I don't blame him.

Something we shouldn't have been in to start with, half-assed for years, then abandoned the folks we had involved ourselves with.

I also agree just like in Vietnam and in Afghanistan we got into something that we should have stayed out of, all it did besides killing many of our fighting men and woman, it cost us billions and more billions we gained nothing.

Has there ever been a war we pulled out of that ended the way we want?

We had to leave VN, we had to leave Korea, we had to leave Iraq and we had to leave Afghanistan which begs the question; is there ever a right way to leave a war before the war is over?

Well i guess for starters in Bidens quick exist in Afghanistan he worked it got 13 American Military Killed, and today the whole world thinks we just desert the people who work with us and make the mistake of tursting us.

I’m from a older generation, we abandoned VN to way more loss of life and equipment, before that, we did same thing in Korea.

It’s harder to win the peace than win the war. Like Charlie Wilson said “we fracked up the end game”.

Here is the rub , its impossible to fight and win a limited war where you don't fully commit to winning . We won WWII because we embraced total war. America has not fought a total war since 1945 and American politicians have incorrectly come to the belief we can just drop a few bombs and then leave , and more importantly the American public doesn't and hasn't support on a large scale war since then.

A lot of folks don't really understand there was an anti war movement in WWII it was small compared to what would happen later on but none the less it was there and yes it was growing by the end of 1945.

I do not know what it would take for us to win a massive conflict in this day and age given this limited warfare philosphy we have adopted in the last 70 years or so .
