Anyone here have experience with the DIY kits they sell at the big box stores? I'm thinking of adding some insulation on my garage door as I have recently turned it into a shop of sorts. My concern is humidity build up. Any pros/cons you guys want to share?

I bought sheets of the aluminum backed foam board(1" or 1 1/4" thickness) and cut to fit.
I cut it a little big, bowed it and fit it into the door. It fits tight and very easy to install.
It will break if you bow it too much and it may take you a piece or 2, to figure out.
Also, if you use 1", I believe you could double it up.
I will say, it works great deflecting the radiant heat from the sun, and a little with keeping the garage warm.
I have no experience with insulation kits.

I did something similar to what Onslow did. Mostly I just wanted my cheap radiant heater to have a chance at keeping the shop warm inside. Worked good for me.

About a month ago, I got a quote from one of the local garage door outfits and they wanted around $300 to install an insulation kit. My neighbor just did it himself, using foil-backed ridgid foam and I'll probably do the same thing. Neighbor stuck it to his door panels with liquid nails, but I may try to find a better product. Some big blobs of silicone?
