I had one break about a month ago. Mine are the center mounted style spring and I also went ahead and had them replace both of them. Cost $165.00 installed and took him about 30 minutes.

What is with all the weak garage door springs ?

My guy told me that they are designed to last at least 12,000 cycles. Seems like a lot until you realize that you run it up and down 4X per day. That's 8 cycles. That works out to just over 4 years. Mine had been in this house for about 7 years. Some days I run it up and down 8-10 times, sometimes none. I guess I just never knew that they were a consumable part of the garage door.

Seems like last one I had done was about $150 p & l and the guy was done in about 30 min. It would have taken my half the day or more. I'll gladly pay the money and be at the range or golf course with the time the pro saved!
