CRG-2: Close Range Gunfighting
This is our flagship course and goes as far as you can safely go on a square range with live-fire pistols. The dynamic curriculum surpasses the traditional handgun methods commonly taught in most institutions and focuses of the use of the pistol in aggressive close range applications likely in individual civilian street encounters.
The class begins with a tune-up of the fundamentals, then we progress quickly to new skills such as Proactive and Reactive Manipulations, Shooting While Moving Off The X, Reality-Based Multiple Hostiles Engagement, 360 degree CQB Movement, Danger-Close Fighting, Bilateral Shooting, Natural Reaction Shooting Methods, 360 Degree After Action Assessment Methods, and Integrating hand to hand skills into the Firing Platform. This is the life-saving material that is often ignored in many other programs. In two days, you will receive more information than most armed professionals ever get!
$350, a Saturday and Sunday.
About the instructor. I trained with Randy Harris last year, and it was well worthwhile.
Randy Harris is one of the original Suarez International staff instructors. He was chosen by Gabe Suarez in 2005 to teach the Suarez catalog of classes around the country. With over 16 years experience working in the shooting industry, Randy is also an NRA certified instructor, Handgun Carry Permit instructor for the state of Tennessee, and Glock Armorer.
Randy is able to share his extensive knowledge from over 20 years of experience carrying concealed weapons in public and an extensive training and teaching resume. Not only is he able to teach students how to win the fight, but when to fight and how to avoid it if possible. He spent several years in college working the door at a night club where he gained practical experience and insight into not only how to end fights quickly, but how to use verbal skills and body language to diffuse situations and avoid them.
Randy is a Master class shooter having competed in everything from IDPA, GSSF and 3 Gun to Subgun and Cowboy Action Shooting (competing under the alias of Cruel Hand Luke). He has shot in both the IDPA Nationals and World Championships where most recently he finished in the top 20 overall in the Stock Service Pistol Division at the 2015 IDPA World Championship with a 14th place finish in the Master SSP classification. He has had articles published in several defense oriented internet newsletters and publications. He has been a practitioner at the National Tactical Invitational and has attended and been a presenter at the Rangemaster Tactical Conference/Polite Society Match where he also scored two Top 3 finishes in the Polite Society match shooting against some of the best serious gunmen and defensive shooting instructors in the country.
Randy has also received an Advanced rating and the coveted red pin for highest score in class at the Rogers Shooting School. He is also a member of the Gung Ho Chuan Association of close quarters combatives instructors.
Randy travels throughout the country teaching the majority of the SI curriculum including Pistol Gunfighting, Close Range Gunfighting, Advanced Close Range Gunfighting, Kalashnikov Gunfighting and Advanced Kalashnikov, Rifle Gunfighting and Advanced Rifle Gunfighting, AR/M4 Rifle Gunfighting, Shotgun Gunfighting and Advanced Shotgun, Tactical Medicine for the Concealed Carry Operator, Force on Force, Low Light Force on Force and Zero to Five Feet Gunfighting and Terrorist/Active Shooter Interdiction.
Randy has trained with some of the best in the business in the areas of gun, knife and empty hand combatives and takes a thinking man's approach to integrating those skills and teaching people to better defend themselves.
Guns do not solve all your problems. A truly well rounded practitioner works not only the physical skills like shooting, knife and hand to hand skills, but also the mental skills of awareness, avoidance, reading cues of impending assault, deescalation and even medical skills as well.
