Hello everyone, brand new to the forum, this site was recommended to me by a friend of mine who spoke very highly of the information he has been able to acquire in the past while shopping and modding firearms so I figured I could give him a break and pick the brains of some of the members on here, that being said I appreciate all the advice and input from anyone willing to offer it. I'm interested in purchasing and possibly eventually modifying a 10mm Glock, not for competitions or anything just to have something fun to take to the range that could also protect my home when needed. I moved here from Alaska about 4 years ago being stationed there for 4 years in the Army. I have experience with higher caliber pistols as I carried a .44 magnum while fishing and put around 100 rounds through it, I also carried a Sig 938 for my daily carry after very quickly getting tired of a Springfield 1911 micro that may as well been a brick in my holster (not high calibers I know but just putting it out there as experience with different handguns) I have since sold all of my firearms and am now looking into starting over, I do not intend on carrying the pistol so barrel length isn't a concern, I do have larger hands so a larger frame is ideal, I dont know anything about the 10mm cartridge being a 1911 fanboy I've shot .45s more than anything so after all that being said I guess my main questions would be if there are any drawbacks to a 10mm over say a 45? Is the Glock 40 worth the extra cost over the Glock 20 if I have no intent on doing competitions? What generation would be best to look into? Stuff I should look for when inspecting them at purchase, if I would be better off buying new over used, things to maybe modify or replace upon initial purchase, stuff like that. I know there is a lot here and hopefully that doesn't put people off from reading it or contributing information. Thanks Everyone.
