Than it ain't tungsten.... sorry, you can't just drill hardest metal without use of hardest mineral... And the diamond tipped drill bit would "choke" in gold and wouldn't leave a "sharp point" pilot whole either.

Tungsten is far far away from being the hardest metal. The 97% alloys (usually referred to as pure) are only about 47 rockwell C scale. And there is far more than just hardness that dictates what can be machined. I assure you tungsten is totally machinable with carbide tools. How do I know? I've sent a few tons of chips outside to the chip bin.

I think guys were confusing Tungston alloy with the Tungston Carbide plating, as used on resizing dies, tool bits, etc..

Q: Is it magnetic at all?
