Hi, I just picked up a GSG 522 (re-designed). I know the cosmetic changes to the 522 included : open front sight, picatinny rail, etc. My question pertains to the picatinny rail.....mine DOES NOT have one. For those that DOES have one, is it "molded" on there or is it simply mounted on with a claw mount which might have just fallen off mine somehow? Thanks.

What I was trying to find out is, from the pics of the new GSG-522 (re-designed) models, the picatinny rail is longer than the "claw" after-market clamp-ons, and it looks as if it's molded and/or riveted on top of the receiver cuz I can't see any clamps. I know mine is the newer model cuz it has the open front sight, slotted rear sight, etc. However, it's missing the picatinny rail completely. I'm wondering if the factory forgot to rivet one on?

This pic is a file photo, notice the rail on top of the gun. They look as if they're riveted on cuz I can't see any clamps. My gun, has NO rails what so ever.

I know they come with one standard.

But I guess it just depends on where you picked it up as to whether you can get it replaced.

They are longer, but only rearward. I don't need anything back near the rear sight, so the claw mount works on my OG-GSG.

ok, I found a file photo of what one is suppose to look like on the new 522 version. Looks like it's screwed on from the top and not claw mounted.

Why won't this site let me upload a normal pic?
