I have always wondered if maybe he’s tooled up for 1911s, but not much else. I had a bad experience with him, but he must be doing something right to have stayed in business this long. What’s he doing with your gun just out of curiosity?

So if you were dealing with Eric, we are not talking about person. When Eric ran it, there were other smiths back there. I believe one's name was Mike. Didn't really care for him either.

The guy I'm speaking of built guns for Nowlin, and is up there with some of the best work I've seen. I can't speak for the AR situation above but I've had him do work and owned guns built by him. Top notch work, and I don't say that lightly.

Have known Garth for decades and have multiple jobs he has completed for me.
He is a top notch 1911 gunsmith and I will confidently say he would not damage a firearm or turn out half *** repairs.

I can't speak for his pistol smithing good or bad but when a smith calls me and tell me they drilled my FSB for set screws when it wasn't supposed to have any because you don't have the tooling to do the job correctly .. That doesn't inspire me with confidence in their expertise . It also upsets me I wasn't called for approval first that's what hack would do .

So who called you? Was it Garth?

Doing a quick search it seems the MK12 and MK18 platforms used set screws in their gas blocks. Dunno if I'd call SEAL equipment hacked up but maybe someone more knowledgable will reply.

I will also vouch for Mr. Peterson’s 1911 abilities. I briefly met him years ago at Nowlin and saw some of his work at that time. It is good. I learned more about him from Terry Boehler of Nowlin. And I now own two 1911s he built. They are excellent.

Never used the gunsmith at 2A but had the one at Sport's World in Tulsa look at a problem with a Colt SAA recently. He figured out the issue and repaired it and it did not cost much. Highly recommend that guy.

So I just got back from 2A after having a very unhappy discussion with the manager. Take a look at these images and tell me this isn't hack work. @crispy was nice enough to meet me in the parking lot to hand off an A2 stock and viewed this up close.. However these photos speak for themselves

You can see even the pins this guy installed aren't right and he even egged the pin hole on the rear , also the pins aren't the correct taper pins I brought with the FSB when I dropped everything off and that hole is more than barely noticeable. That by the way was his words the hole is barely noticeable.

And yes I am being nitpicky here but that is not even my hand guard retaining cap, mine was parked like the barrel this one is some kind of painted one and he removed the sling swivel then did a half *** job of reinstalling it as it is very loose now. The only thing I can say for certain he did right was align it as it appears to be straight and not canted.

Lastly he put some cold blue or something on the FSB I am guessing to hide some of the damage as it wasn't that color when he received it. It was a gray parkerizing and I am not even going to get into all the scratches this barrel and uppper have now from this "Gun Smith"

You've been warned this guy is a hack , they won't touch anything I own which tosses a bullet again 1911, AR or anything else.

A2 and A4 FSB DO NOT have set screws its a hack job I have had plenty of AR work done and it never come back looking like this . Mil Spec for an FSB is for it to be aligned and drilled then reamed with a taper reamer then taper pins installed which I provided the pins with the FSB those aren't even my provided pins inthe photos. He egged one of the holes during the install.
