Do any FFL's take an SDA card by itself in our state? Instead of filling out the form.
I’m not aware of any of the FFL’s I use. As much as I hate the form, I don’t mind filling out the form because it doesn’t take very long.
You still have to fill out the 4473 if you have a carry license. As I understand it they just don’t have to call the ATF because you already have a background check because of the license
Isn't that funny that you can carry a loaded gun into the store, but you can't carry an empty gun out of the store, at Academy. I suppose Bass pro is the same.
The last couple of times I picked up a firearm at Cabela's I walked out with it from the gun counter after the BGC cleared.
Academy didn't let me do that 10-12 years ago from what I remember. Wal-mart definitely didn't let me walk out with one 15 or so years ago.
Please don't get mad at the employees. I worked at a Cabela's in Olympia, WA, for about three years. The big box stores have their own rules. For example, here in OK, a CPL makes the BGC obsolete, but places like Academy will still run it.
While strolling thru sporting goods yesterday at local wmart (sometimes do this with time to kill and also check ammo prices, stock, etc), I overheard the older female clerk assisting a middle-age appearing female customer with a knife purchase from the display counter. Didn't really pay attention other than it was a medium size fixed blade, until buyer mentions clerk having to carry to front before purchase as she had other items in her cart to buy.
Don't recall this ever happening before but I guess same concerns would apply with knife as with firearm???

These stores are not kneeling to ATF, etc. Their concern is all the lawsuits that can be filed against them for any reason. There are folks that are constantly looking for a reason to make a fuss about anything, and the sight of a non-employee carrying a firearm, even in a box, is just disturbing to witness. Normal gun stores do not have that high potential. It's just part of life. If the store has something I want to buy, I can live with a little inconvenience without getting offended.
I have only been to the BA Bass Pro once back when they opened, did not get a good feeling from the people working the firearm counter after asking a few questions and just getting poor answers, gave the store a little looking and left and have never returned.
As for Academy when they had all the Ammo. out where someone could really see and touch it i liked buying the Ammo there that i wanted they had both 7.62x39 and .5.45x39 for my dear AKs along with .40sw .45acp and both 9mm&.380, sadly today it's all gone back to just a poor place to buy Ammo. or for that matter firearms.
Now Walmart at one time a great place to find .45acp Win White Box range Amm. $19.95 a box of 50, sadly them days are long gone.
Anyway my trip to Scheels yes so much Ammo. yes i am impressed and you can even touch it. The hand guns locked in them steel bared display cases not any way i want to veiw a handgun sure they will get them out for you but there so busy with people all over i just don't want to deal with Scheel's

I think it depends on the store honestly. I bought a shotgun at a BPS in Texas (out of state) and they rang it up and stuck it in my cart cause I had other shopping to do. I carried it around for about another 45 minutes in the store.
