May I suggest getting some silver nitrate sticks or powder for the occasional small bleed that one gets on a hand or whatever. Being on blood thinners has taught me that any small bleed can be difficult to stop using only pressure and a paper towel but the silver nitrate works quickly.
Sugar works when in a pinch and have nothing else, just take a handfull and slap it on and hold in place with you hand appling pressure

Thank you both for this advice and the recommendation of the Curad band-aids.

My house companion is a very playful kitty,,,
Both of my forearms are dotted with tiny wounds.

Often they take hours to clot,,,
A regular styptic pencil does nothing for them.

Thanks again.

I don’t know which is worse, in your lungs or in your brain. Neither has anything good come of it.

A tPa shot saved my life and kept me from a worse than death outcome and now it’s Xarelto for life.

Nice for you to have a “life line” friend. Literally. Good luck in your recovery and give your friend a big hug.

Then I bet a Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream pie would work. If you open it up and lay it cream-side down on the wound, you won't even have to hold it in place! :-)

Now being serious, I had the same issue in April 2020 just as COVID was initially shutting everything down. I ended up with a large clot on the top of my thigh. Didn't get injured that I remember, so don't know why the clot formed. Some of it ended up in my lung. We were binge watching something stupid on Amazon. It was about 12:30am and I went to get up from the recliner, and nope... I barely made it up, only to fall on the sofa, and something came out of my lips that I didn't think I'd ever hear. I told my wife to call 911. Ambulance arrived sometime later, and they told my wife to just stay home. She wouldn't be able to get in the hospital because it was shut down for COVID.

I spent the next few days in ICU. Got out within a week or so. Been on Eliquis ever since.

Glad you are doing better!

Clots are scary for sure. When I had mine, that I mentioned above, when I got to the ICU I had 5 specialist Drs. trying to figure out why I wasnt dead. No kidding, the cardiologist said this would have killed 9/10 people. He said I say 9 of 10 because your the one that lived. He said I have a strong heart because it didnt stop.

Damn!! Glad you are okay! That was quite the "adventure" huh?? It is amazing how quickly things can turn ... If Grumpy had gone back to bed like he wanted to, instead of the ER that morning, he would have died waiting on the ambulance. As it was, he had his first heart attack laying on a gurney in the ER wondering why everyone was so excited just because his glucose levels were "a little high". Lol (I swear!! He told me he couldn't figure out what all the fuss was over because he had no pain at all -- just a little short of breath. Go figure ...)
