Eliquis is no joke, you can bleed out uncontrollably, fast. Make sure you see a specialist, a hematologist and get it right. This past year I made more than one trip to the ER over a bleed (long story) and it looked like a slashing murder scene in my bathroom. By the time I drove to the ER (didn't think I had time to wait for EMSA) I had lost every bit of 2 units of blood.
PSA if you show up at the ER at 3 am bleeding out, there is 0 wait time and they will meet you at the door as you stumble in week, but I don't recommend it.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes You do need to watch the Groin Closely. If you feel any thing unusual or experience a lot of bruising get it checked out by ultrasound.
I had an experience after a stent where I had a Pseudo Aneurism, which means a dome clot formed above the incision on the entry of where they went in to place stent. This dome allows blood to pump thru the incision, not allowing the wound to heal. I had extreme bruising and some uncomfortable feelings in my groin and on return check, 7 days after stent, to my Heart DR. he said all was OK and never even offered to look at my leg even after mentioning my whole leg was a bruise, thigh to my calf, huge bruise. Fortunately my wife works at a Hospital and mentioned it to a Coworker, who happened to Specialize in Sonogram Technology. He told her to tell me to come in right away there may be a problem. Sure enough he took a look and the incision had the dome of clotted blood over the incision. If it had burst I would have bled out in a few minutes or so.
They rushed me to the Heart Hospital again and a Vein Specialist shot some Thrombus or something like that in the dome to clot it. They held me for two days to make sure it clotted, it did.
I'm thankful for Kent who risked his Job by doing an Ultrasound without Dr. orders to find the Aneurism.

These Photos are not my leg. just examples so if any one experiences this you know what it is.
My bruise was similar but different than this one. covered whole inside of groin down to calf.

I’m officially old. When threads about health and close calls fascinate us this much you know we’ve arrived.

And I’m glad as ever your buddy arrived. Capital idea too to have that relationship. Not many are that reliable. I can’t remember to back up pictures regularly let alone text someone every day. Good on you both.

Also, the imaging and such posted here was great. Thanks for sharing stories.

Remember when we were young and would wonder off when the elder’s talk turned to health stuff. We had plenty of time for all that… later. Now time is precious. I’m sure glad you got more of it.

The doctor that sent you on your merry way needs to lose his license. There is no excuse for that kind of laziness ...

Aarond, thanks for the thread! Giving people a reason to talk about stuff like this is meaningful.
I’m sitting here in Mercy hospital in Ardmore with my wife.
Yesterday morning we were discussing whether I should take her to ER because she felt “not right “! Long story short, I took her in fully expecting we’d be home by noon. Yeah! Noon Wednesday, if we’re lucky.
We have the best medical industry in the world. Yet, it’s not worth a plug nickel if you don’t give it a chance.
I’m glad you gave it a chance!

Gentley-men,,,
I do thank you all for your good wishes.

And especially for the advice on those Curad clotting bandages.

I absentmindedly scratched the scab off of a small kitty wound,,,
It's been bleeding for over an hour now.

Amazon is express shipping some of those bandages as I type.

I'm feeling good today but will still wait another day or two,,,
Before trying to drive to the grocery store.

JD said he will make the run for me,,,
But I don't want to overburden him with my needs.

I'll just be very careful and see what happens.

I'm really glad you're feeling better but, honestly, I think you should take JD up on his offer. Maybe you could ride along. Baby steps. Take care of yourself! And, thanks again, JD!
