Ok, How many on this site took a Ham Radio licensing test at Hamfest in Claremore this weekend to either get a ham license or upgrade to a higher class? How did you do, what did you use to study.

If you did not do as well as you had hoped, and had rather not post direclty, if you would like to PM me instead, I can post a count only of of those also. If you did not pass, we would like to find a way to help you figure some things out that might have been difficult and get you tuned up and ready for another exam in a few weeks.

I did not get much time to look around inside, was driving one of the carts in the parking lot quite a bit, but I did not see many used radios for sale. It seems most people must be keeping the ones they have rather than upgrading. There has not been a lot of technology improvements lately, so the ones I have are working well for me for example.

There are a couple of web sites you can go to to see if your license has been approved the day before they actually mail it out. One is the FCC site, and www.QSL.com site used to be updated at midnight every day. There might be that others here have more current information. For a new license, you have to wait for the paper in the mail. For an upgrade, you can use it as soon as it is posted.

I made a ham radio once...couldn't get it to work and by day two it was covered by flies and smelled too bad to play with.
