Alright guys, here's the deal: I'm looking to pick up either a SIG P290rs, or a Benelli Supernova.

I've been wanting a small 9mm for awhile, but don't own a shotgun yet (everyone needs a shotgun, right?).

Pros and cons of each?

Deep concealment vs HD/hunting?
Caliber I already own vs a new round to buy?
Any current "political" reasons to buy one over the other (not that I think the ban will pass)?

So, what say ye?

It depends on priority to be honest and if you are like most of us you will probably own both before the years end anyway. Lol I for one sleep well at night with a pump under my bed, but pistols are more fun at the range IMO. However most pocket pistols aren't that pleasant of shooters so yea...

If you have your CCW and already have a carry weapon I would buy the Benelli now and the Sig once spring/summer rolls around. I would get the Sig first only if you had your CCW and no carry.

I have a Benelli Nova and love it. Mine has a 28 inch barrel. I'm not a huge fan of super small handguns but Sigs are definitely nice (I have an LCP that I don't like very much) and small handguns have their advantages. Tough call

What kind of hunting do you plan on doing with the Benelli?

I do already have a great ccw piece, and havestarted leaning towards the Benelli.

For hunting I was thinking maybe deer (if I didn't have my standard rifle) or turkey/some type of bird if I ever get into that (have to check the regs, though, not much experience with scatterguns).

Here, but occasionally There.
Your choice of shotgun wouldn't apply in this case, but I bought a Remington 870 tactical this years because of the 6+1 capacity. There was an article some time back that it was mentioned that "the powers that be" might try to redefine the meaning of a shotgun and that anything over "X" number of rounds capable would be considered an assault-type weapon.

Besides, mine will primarily be for home-defense and the more rounds I can use on multiple intruders, the better off I am. The last two rounds may be filled with rock salt just to add insult to injury as the survivors head off into the darkness.
