I have a 10-22 and am putting on a better 3x9 scope rather than the 3x I had before. The problem is I ran out of adjustment on the left to right adjustment and I need a little more to make it the close to nail driver it was with the 3x. I can't imagine having to use shims if the previous scope was fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Could I remove the scope and put it back on and have it seat differently? I am lost.

if using weaver style rings take them off and turn 180 degrees . can make a world of difference. make sure crossbolt if there is one is in notch and no burrs on rings or mount around slot area.

Thanks everyone. I will try your ideas and if they don't work I will send you the info you have asked for. I am curious as to how to reset the scope to center? Do I count the turns to get from end to end of the adjustment and then go back 1/2 that number?

I bought a used pellet gun for cheap yesterday because the guy couldn't hit anywhere close to aim point. Checked it out and discovered this exact same problem. Happens more than people might think.

To the OP, look down on the rifle from above very closely. Does the scope line up with the barrel?
