He is big-handed. Thought about a revolver because it is simple. But wondering his he would prefer a semi-auto.
Depends on what you want to spend.
You can get a Rossi or Taurus for cheap and will be fine for a beside the chair gun.
Charter arms makes a good revolver that is not to much.
If you want to spend a little more, get a Ruger like the 100s, or 101s.
The S&W start around the same price and then go up from there.

Yep....Glock. Not really expensive. Very reliable. Easy to operate.
Let me know if anyone has one that they think is a great pistol or revolver that they would like to sell.

Agree. I have the 23 with a 9mm conversion. Really have enjoyed it.
Start looking at the black Friday ads. Academy, Bass Pro, or someone will have some good deals.
For auto's a used Glock 22 would be good. They can be found online for $350-$375 easily. For revolver, S&W 10, 15, 19 or the like. Though if he's going to be a novice I wouldn't give him 357's, I'd give him 38 +P's. The combination of novices, follow up shots, and 357's never really pans out trust me.
