My husband lost his job today, so he's looking for a new one.

He's kind of a jack of all trades. Forklift driver, cell-tower hand, auto mechanic....

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. We're not gonna go the unemployment route. Gotta put this boy to work!

I highly recommend that he check into a federal civil service job in a field he enjoys. Pay & benefits are great. Regular raises. I think you can get a list of openings in your area at teh State Employment office.

Sounds like he may be well suited for an oil field job. I've heard there are openings and the pay is better than average.

I went down this road about 2 years ago. I had worked 20 years and never been without a job. I have a job now I love with a great company. It WILL get better. Good luck to him and our family.

Lots of work about 50 miles west of Tulsa in Noble and Pawnee counties. Drilling rigs, pipe lines running everywhere, new railroad construction. Camping trailers are setting on most every corner cause most of the motels are full. Good luck and keep your head up..

Two good sites right there. Also see https://servicelink.oesc.state.ok.us/ada/. You can use the job search services without filing for unemployment, but why not file? It's not intended to be a handout. It's to help you get by until you find work. His boss paid into it. He's probably entitled to it, so why not use it? Besides, if you file, they can help you find other stuff available for him like paid retraining.

Please ask your husband to contact Mr. Waller at AG Equipment Co. 918.250.7386. We fabricate gas compressor packages for the oil patch companies. We're incredibly busy and should be hireling, e.g. Materials handling, fitters, welders, instrumentation, general assembly, etc. good luck
