In the real world there is no such thing as a monopoly.

The more companies they convince to not sell to private citizens the bigger the opportunity it is for those who have made no such contract.

Anti-gun agenda - yes. Under the radar - not all that much.
Schumer's aggressive anti-gun posture is well know, as is his stated intent to use all means necessary to reign in what he views as dangerous gun ownership and gun violence -- all while still respecting the Second Amendment of course. ;^)
