You could sue or otherwise subpoena them for that information. Aside from that, there's nothing legally compelling them to even have insurance unless a lien requires it.
File a claim on your insurance if they are liable for actions or damage to your real property so your insurer might go after them. Just be aware of increased rates or being dropped.
Is there a way to find out who someone has their homeowners insurance with if they don't want to tell you?
Thanks.
I own an independent insurance claims firm and might be able to help....but, I first have to know what you are trying to find out!?! if you don't want to pose the question to the world, feel free to IM me and I'll try to help.
If it helps, here's a tid bit of information for you. Your insurance policy covers damages to your property; dwellings, fences, driveways, etc. Example - your neighbors tree falls on your house....your insurance company would pay for the repair, not the neighbors. Extenuating circumstance would be; if the neighbors tree was dead and you have informed them as such (typically needs to be proved) neighbor would need to take care of it before it damages your property. However, typically you would file the claim on your home for the damages and your insurance company would file a liability claim against their insurance company.
Hope some of this helps you.
