I had my truck broke into last night, the locked toolbox anyway. I cannot tell if anything was taken. I do not keep much in it, just some stuff to clean game and get me out of a mud hole if need be. This is the second time I have been broken into in the last year. We live in a nice newer neighboorhood but I guess that is a mute point.

I think I am wanting to get a couple outside cameras. Probably will not prevent anything, but might provide a little more peace of mind. I am not sure.

Can anyone reccommend a home security camera setup?

Anything less than a 2mp camera really won't give you and info to go on after the fact. We have several of the vivotek ip cameras and have gotten 2 different people caught over the last couple years. Lots of people caught just trying door handles

We live in a decent area as well. I think all the scum head to the nicer areas to "Shop".

I have had and installed several of the cheaper SAMs style camera systems and they really don't provide much other than a poor detailed video of what happened
I'm the house the neighbors all come to anytime something happens and they want video nowadays

Anyway, Vivotek has a good bang for your buck and there are a few wholesales around here that carry them

Reddog posted some quality video from an outside cam a few months back. He told me which model but I don't recall what it was.

I think Vivotek was what I was looking at on Amazon.

I remember the Reddog video. Makes me mad just thinking of little punks thieves walking through neighborhoods checking car doors.

i had some kids getting in my truck and stealing change from the ashtray. i never leave anything worth stealing in my vehicles so i dont get windows broken. i had a motion light on the garage, so i hooked up a screw in light socket in 1 of the sockets , rigged up a doorbell that rang when light came on. boy were they suprised when i came out of the house. never a problem again

good camera systems are expensive. Look to spend 500 per camera installed.

You can get cheap sets for 2-3 hundred and install it yourself but the images are not very good.

If you are really considering one and want to see one pm me and I'll get you a link to view it online
