Since it’s an actual memorial I feel it should be left alone. The only one.
My impression was it was never decomissioned, but, I was wrong and it was stricken in 1942 (or 1944 depending on what you read) and effectively became a cemetery, pretty much putting the name up for grabs according to rule books....but my entire life, and for 18yrs prior, there has been only one USS Arizona to my knowledge, and strange that this should change now.

Back to the topic, having the new ship named for the state is a very big deal, especially a warship, the pride I know well from my home state where we kids collected change statewide to save our namesake from the scrapyard and it still visited today by huge numbers after half a century.
