I have a different brand/model and I love it. Been going strong for several years and it replaced my older one, that also worked for several years, when I moved into this place.

I love it that I can go back and look to see what the weather was on a particular day in the past. I also have it hooked into the Weather Underground network.

Mine is made by Ambient Weather:

Does anybody use something like this? I kinda looked into them a few years ago but never got one because no internet here to transmit the signal. Now that there's internet....kinda want one again.

Things to look for or avoid?

We have this brand but the next one above it in price. Everything works good but we don’t feel the measured amount of rainfall is accurate. Also if you wait more than 10 minutes after the rain quits it will dump the water accumulation and show 0 rainfall amount.

I have one exactly like this and its great. I dont use the internet upload of data, I just like to monitor all aspects of the weather outside as well as indoor temp and humidity.

Interesting, I didn't realize you would have to dump the rain out. Kinda assumed it would drain to keep on going/tabulating.
I dont have to dump out rain. it drains itself and as it enters, its collects in a teeter totter type cup and each time it tilts, it drains that cup and registers an amount. Only problem I ever had with this is if a spider makes a nest there and the teeter cant totter lol.
