Homeland Security seizes domain names

I have, which is how I know that the last two years, almost 3, is just like this one. Only a few hundred posts in 5 years, he's just picked up here more lately. I did used to use a site that linked up a lot of different sites with streaming video, and every few weeks there domain name would change, to something that was decently close, but just different enough. I guess to keep traffic down, and not get caught. Last time I went to the site, it had a big shield/badge, and said the domain had been seized by ICE and the FBI.

No, but the majority of his stuff is. It was still like all his others, media related, another link to another article or story, but I do suppose the deer could have had government mind control chips implanted, and they went crazy.

Talk about your mission creep. This is the kind of thing that makes me despise the fedgov, and the taxes that support it. And they wonder why we're madder than hell.

Yeah, maybe they should be shut down, but not by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Could customs enforcement be involved since most of these sites are not based in the US? These products would be coming across the border, so maybe the fact that the "info" on the sites does as well makes it their jurisdiction? Wouldnt be the FBI since its not domestic, maybe they are just trying to get our $ out of them, since they dont enforce immigration laws?

Well, if there's no authority for it within your mission, then you just simply DON'T DO IT - you don't have the authority - not unless and until we the people, through an act of Congress, decide to create authority by creating the "International Anti-Intellectual-Property-Theft Enforcement Agency", or some such. The fact that there's no other agency that can do it, does NOT give them the authority TO do it.

There's no way with a straight face ICE should have ANYTHING to do with IP pirating.

I agree, all this net neutrality and intelectual property, and censorship crap coming up scares me. Most of it seems to be fringin on, if not completely violating my constitutional rights.

It would seem that the moderators on the RugerForum take this more seriously than the folks on the Oklahoma Shooter? I am just passing on the basic message that another gun website posted on violation of 'intellectual property' copyright laws of the United States(Sun Jul 25, 2010 2:14 pm). If you want to go your own way, I won't/can't stop you. I passed this on to moderators on the Oklahoma Shooters a while back and there wasn't any response. If you want to disreguard it, put my posts down, etc., that is up to you.

Huh? What does that have to do with the OP?
Righthaven doesn't just sue on reposting full articles. They sued someone for posting 5 words from one of their articles. They are copyright trolls and will run out of money eventually.
