I absolutely love this logic...I use it on my friends all the time....I dont think anyone likes to admit how much time they actually waste.....

If its not inspected , gas or electric, and it causes a problem.
Your insurance company might not cover it....jus sayin
If it is gas, you have to have a licensed contractor call in a permit. That will cost at least $125 just for the inspection. A grand does not seem high if it is gas. Electric is another story though. Do not listen to the DIY crowd, you cause a gas fire, you could face manslaughter or worse.
Yeah, as has been said several times, it is a 2 hour job with a crescent wrench and a screwdriver. Use a bottle of soapy water to check for leaks.
