How is this for a load of lies on the part of anti-gun / anti-hunting nut-jobs.....

The American Bird Conservancy, which did not participate in the most recent petition, said 3,000 tons of lead are shot into the environment by hunting every year, 4,000 tons are lost in ponds and streams and 80,000 tons released at shooting ranges. At least 75 wild bird species are poisoned by spent lead ammunition, including bald eagles and endangered California condors, it said.

Let's just assume that we all hunt with 150 grain bullets.

Let's see now: 3000 tons X 2000 pounds/ton = 6,000,000 pounds of lead.
6,000,000 pounds X 7000 grains/pound = 4,2000,000,000 grains of lead.
4,200,000,000 grains/150 grains/bullet = 280,000,000 150 grain bullets.

Somehow I just don't think hunters put quite that many bullets into the environment each year.

It adds up a lot faster if you start looking at an ounce (or more) of shot from a 12-ga. load. I could see 96 million rounds fired. Hell, I've shot nearly that many in a day in the dove fields. :o

But yes, I'd like to see their sources.
