Mexico gov't faces vigilante monster it created
Leaders of the self-defense groups are demanding the government arrest the top seven leaders of the Knights Templar drug cartel before they consider laying down their weapons.
Late Wednesday, Monte Alejandro Rubido Garcia, executive secretary of the National Public Safety System, said federal police had detained two members of the Knights Templar. But the spokesman for the vigilante movement, Estanislao Beltran, said the self-defense groups were not satisfied with the arrests, saying the men weren't cartel leaders.
This week, the government has beefed up federal police numbers in the rich farming region known as the Tierra Caliente, vowing to tame the area that has been controlled for at least three years by the quasi-religious Knights Templar. But the move comes after months of unofficial tolerance of vigilante groups that have taken up arms against the cartel, which started in drug trafficking and expanded to extortion and total economic control as the government failed to act.

Wow! the dump truck is packing a .50 BMG Barrett. The last pic has a very "lightly skinned" man with what looks like maybe an M203 and good trigger discipline. Maybe a US/vigilante advisor?
Who knows, the cartels are very careful about what they do in the USA.
I remember when a Mexican Marine at the border was killed in an altercation with one of the cartels. The night before his funeral the cartels went in and killed his entire family, just to send a message.
So the headline on NPR while we were driving in to work was just that a Marine's entire family was killed. One of my carpoolers, a dormant US Marine, was so worked up that he was checking his vacation hours in case he had to join an excursion to Mexico.
When we got to work I told that story (minus the clarification that it was a Mexican Marine) to the US Marines I knew and they all had a very similar reaction.
Moral of the story don't **** with the US Marines, even the dormant Marines will come back from civilian life and kill you.

Has anyone else noted that in the pics of the vigilantes that some of them are marked with yellow ribbons while most are not?
Good...with a corrupt government and the cartels it's time they started protecting themselves.
