Should a child be before they are taught how to shoot?

I have a 6 year old sister, that is interested in shooting, she loves watching me and grandpa shooting steel, but we have not let her yet, do yall think that a 6 year old is too young to be taught how to shoot?

When the time comes, I will be teaching her with my old Marlin model 60 that my great grandpa taught me with.

So what do yall think?

I started shooting at the age of five. Dad taught me on his H&R Sportsman. If she can pull the trigger under her own power then it is time.

I was hunting rabbits solo on the farm with an air rifle at 6. Get that girl out there and start shooting! Use it as a good teaching tool for responsibility and safety.

My Dad was an avid quail hunter, I started chasing him around when he was hunting when I was 5, carrying a bb gun until he knew I could handle a gun safely.
