I have yet to read anything from the manufacturers of ammo stating that they are behind in production. I could only find a FAQ on Hornday's site from 2009 saying they're increasing production. I have enough ammo for the time being but the empty shelves are depressing.

Talking to them directly.My advise "isn't worth much" to everyone is to place back orders with a reputable place like sportsman's guide, shoot what you have now and enjoy it. Save a mag or two full for JIC but don't stop shooting. No sense in sitting on all your ammo, hit wally world or academy and replinish as you go. Once your back order ships, sit on that but continue to replinish what you shoot so this can be avoided next time.

A big yes on Sportsman's guide. Just placed an order with them for 500 rnds. 9mm. S & B FMJ at a net cost of $113, shipped free, with delivery in July. I joined their buyers club for $29.95 which gave me 10% off and free shipping on this order and two $10 gift vouchers along with 10% off on all orders for the next year. This is not typical. However, they are selling some ammo for out date delivery. I just hit this at the right time.
