Hello,
I had just signed up and posted my first couple, few posts when the database crashed. I then could not get back in because the CAPTCHA picture wouldn't load.
I wrote and Kelly disabled it (thank you!)
So now, I'm here again!
For those who missed it first time around, I'm Josh Smith, owner and sole slave of Smith-Sights LLC. I really enjoy the Mosin-Nagant and the 1911.
The 1911 I carry on my hip daily is my own. It uses an RIA slide, barrel and frame; the rest is replaced with milled or forged parts of the strongest I could find. (It was going to get a new barrel, too, but this one shoots surprisingly well! I sold the National Match barrel I was going to fit to it!)
My go-to rifle is the Mosin. It looks stock but is more than capable of sub-MOA groups with my handloads. It has a Finn M39-inspired trigger that I use needle bearings in, instead of static pins as the Finns used, and that second stage breaks at least as crisply as any modern rifle, at about 4lbs, right where I like it! The first stage is only about 2lbs.
The rest of the precision of that rifle come from a good bore and crown, and shims strategically placed. If there's interest I'll post pictures.
I also own a Gewehr 88/05 made in 1892 that is more accurate and precise than any stock, general-issue military weapon has any right being, and a few other firearms. I have more guns I regret selling than I currently have here!
Anyway, I'll be around later. Got to move now... the boy starts another year of school today.
Regards,
Josh
