ID these pistols

Looking through pics from this year's USASOC Sniper competition and these caught my eye.

Any ideas? Has a mag well, can't really make out the model. Ideas?

Pretty sure it's a G17. Being issued now? If you're stuck with a 9mm pistol, G17/19 seems to be a simple and easy to mantain choice. It's too bad the G17 was excluded from the service pistol selection trials in '85(?). As far back as the mid '90's, I recall a few SMU guys that carried G21's.

I was watching Guns & Ammo TV earlier today and they were interviewing a Green Beret asking about his equipment and he said they were being issued Glock 19's.

When I was in the Army, before the wheel was invented, the Green Berets were sort of whispered about because they were still the stuff of legend. Anyway, don't those guys get to pick and choose their weaponry outside standard issue within limits?

If any of the stuff I've been hearing about them over the years is true, they get funding from different sources other than the normal channels and get to play with all the expensive quality made stuff that all the lowly grunts just get to dream about. Thats part of the attraction of being in Spec-Ops.

Some of the 5th Grp guys that were on our COP during my last deployment had G19s and others had M9s. I asked them if they were personal or issued G19s and was told issued. They said that there were not enough G19s to go around, but they were slowly replacing the M9 with them. I've also seen video from the 'Best Ranger' competition where the participants were using HK pistols, but not sure which model. I've heard that NAVSPECWAR also purchased the HK45c, but only for the ST6 guys is my understanding. The regular SF guys are a little constrained on weapons, but still have the access and leeway to use some better stuff than regular Grunts.


Edit: Top pic is possibly a G22. I'm pretty sure the Delta guys are still using it.
