I dont really see how this applies, I imagine some one would be a lot less likely to rob some one who's got a firearm showing. This could happen to anyone carrying or not

As stated can happen to anyone. The man was conceal carrying and not open carrying when he was robbed .

True, but the robber apparently knew he had a gun. Got the gun away from him then proceeded to rob him. Apparently the victim never expected to be hit. His situational awareness wasn’t working.

I didn't gather anything from that article that made it clear the robber knew he had a weapon beforehand.
