From the "Land of Obama" where the lib dems put the "ill" in Illinois, they want to tax the citizens on their ammo purchases--$0.01 per round on rimfire ammo and $0.05 per round on centerfire ammo.

This is the latest coordinated attack strategy. It is the equivalent of the "soft under belly" attack strategy in that it avoids many of the conventional 2A challenges because it doesn't prohibit anything - it simply adds cost (which marginally discourages but doesn't outright forbid) and makes the 2A based objections seem a little more indirect.

Mugsy, "Soft under belly" attack strategy is a good name for it, BUT I think an even better name for it(and it is even in Obama's very own words) is "Under The Radar" gun contol legislation.

Some of the European countries tax ammo and guns so much that the common person can't own them. What guns they have are hand me downs, and even then, the ammo is extremely expensive.
I've posted this before, but the company I used to work for sent me to Italy for training. We were down the street from Pirazzi Shotgun, so I thought I might be able to buy one on-site cheaper.

Nope. The taxes put them almost double what it could be bought for in the US.

Seems unconstitutional along the same grounds that the "Saturday Night Special" law was... But I'm no lawyer.
