I'm still in suspense as to which he will choose,,,
We had to reschedule our get-together from yesterday to Tuesday.

He thinks we're just getting together to kill a six-pack,,,
Honestly, I don't care which one he chooses,,,
But my bet is he'll take the Beretta.

I'll let you all know tomorrow evening.

I Googled that Bushnell Trophy Red Dot sight,,,
I need to find one to hold in my hand,,,
It looks very compact to me.

I do like red dots but most I've seen are HUGE on the pistol,,,
This one looks like it's more the physical size I want.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm gifting away a handgun today,,,
I just don't know which handgun it will be.

I have a very close friend who has a great job and makes good money,,,
He is also one of those guys who loves being a Daddy,,,
He has six kids and the last is in the oven.

He actually named the 5th one after me!

He is a responsible guy though who has a great paying career,,,
But as you can understand most of his pay goes to family expenses.

His main non-family fun-time is recreational target shooting,,,
He has a nice AR that he built and a CZ-452 Trainer for a rimfire rifle,,,
What he doesn't have though is a semi-automatic target pistol in .22 rimfire.

We are starting to play a range game we blatantly adapted (stole) from Rimfire Steel Challenge,,,
I won't go into the details of the game yet but it involves paper plates.

Anyways, a few weeks ago we were out at the range,,,
We were shooting my Beretta NEOS collection,,,
Two Pistols and the Carbine Kit.

He really liked shooting the 4.5" NEOS and was quite good with it,,,
Since he and his kids are going to inherit the majority of my guns anyways,,,
I decided to wrap up one of the NEOS pistols with all of the original stuff and gift it to him.

But then I got to thinking,,,
Which is always a dangerous thing.

Years ago I assembled a group of what I thought were the 4 most popular target .22 pistols,,,
I have this one case that holds the following guns:
* 6" Ruger Mk-III Standard
* 7" Browning Buckmark
* 4.5" Beretta NEOS
* 5.5" S&W 22A

I decided to get them and the accessories all back in their original cases,,,
And let him choose the one he would like out of the 4.

I also have a cased pair of 5.5" Ruger MK-III 22/45 slab-sides,,,
But since these are my "Modern Dueling Pistols",,,
I'm keeping them intact for myself.

He doesn't know about this as yet,,,
I'm hoping to surprise him later on today.

Just out of curiosity,,,
Which of the four would you good folk choose?

I've had all of these and liked them all, but maybe the Neos a little more. I hate it when I get to trading stuff and wound up getting rid of the 2 I had on trades. Not shooting near as much now since I moved to town, so I guess its not a big deal.

Well, the gifting event went very well,,,
I laid out the four pistols for him,,,
And said "Pick one."

It didn't take long for him to decide that it was,,,
The Beretta or the Buckmark.

Then an hour later he still hadn't made up his mind.

He had shot the Beretta before and really liked it,,,
But he told me that he had placed the Buckmark Hunter,,,
Into his Buds cart several times in the past year only to delete it.

So I did the only logical thing,,,
I said, "You should probably have them both."

I decided that I could do without the Beretta,,,
I have a second NEOS pistol with 4.5 and 6" barrels,,,
Along with a third pistol permanently mounted in the Carbine Kit.

The Browning is a wonderful pistol that I think I bought just because it was so danged pretty,,,
In the several years I've owned it I've probably not put 250 rounds through it,,,
So I made the on the spot decision that I wouldn't miss this one either.

Besides, if I ever did want to shoot the Browning,,,
All I would need to do is say so,,,
He'll bring it to the range.

I'm glad he wasn't interested in the Ruger,,,
I'm going to pair it up with a Mossberg 702 Plinkster,,,
By making a matching sling/mag pouch and tactical holster.

Same for the S&W,,,
I'm going to pair it up with the CZ-512 Carbine I own,,,
I want to make a fantasy "Steampunk Tactical" rig for that pair of guns.

So it all worked out fine for me,,,
My safe is a bit emptier,,,
And that's good.

He did balk a bit when I said he could have both,,,
But I reminded him that he's going to inherit most of my guns anyways.

This is just an early inheritance.

It was fun for me,,,
And his 3 older sons are jealous.

They shouldn't be though,,,
Last year I gave them all .22 rifles.
