Great value table salt from Walmart.
I tried it with Wally salt. Proper mix is 1-2 mix. I mixed 7 cartons (26 oz. Each) into 16 gallons of water. That’s an over mix. I have a very long driveway. I sprayed heavy. Weeds laughed at me. Mixed large scoop salt in 1 gallon water and poured heavy on small patch of weeds. Nothing…..

This is something that my 82 yr old mother experienced recently.
She was looking for an alternative to round up weed killer and read about using salt and vinegar.

This is where it gets interesting. The instructions said to dissolve the salt in the vinegar. Only problem was the salt would not dissolve no matter how much she stirred. To this day it still hasn't dissolved.

The salt brand is great value from Walmart. Or more correctly, it is bleached sand from china distributed by Walmart.

I recently tried the same thing using one cup of salt to 1 gallon of vinegar,,,
I had no problem dissolving the salt,,,
Go figure.

OK I had to check for myself.

I went to the kitchen and poured 2 tablespoons of Great value 5% acidity vinegar in a glass.
Sprinkled maybe 1/16 teaspoon of great value iodized table salt into the glass.

I tasted it first. salty.
Swirled it around and it dissolved completely.
Then took some Morton iodized table salt and tasted it and it is a finer grain.

Shook some of that into the glass and some of it dissolved and some did not.
I suspected the liquid was saturated and could not absorb anymore salt.

I added some water and it dissolved just fine.

You can add so much salt or sugar to water and eventually it will no longer dissolve because the liquid is saturated.

Could be that salt of your moms was too much for the liquid.

Remove some of that salt and stick it in some fresh water and see if it dissolves.
If it does it is not sand.

I don't think so. I seen it for myself. It won't dissolve. Sold as great value table salt.

Chlorine or bleach will kill almost anything.
