I'm new to the forum, and new gun owner too. I had a Ruger P89 a few years back but recently grabbed a Springfield XD after the burglary of my car in the driveway. Wouldn't have mattered in that situation but brought to front of mind the realization that they may get more brave and try the house next time. That combined with the fact that I was able to investigate, get video from stores where my credit card was used and provide names and contact info for the folks that stole and used my wallet from my car and the cops didn't care. The whole occurrance made me open my eyes to the fact that I needed to take the protection of myself and my precious family into my own hands (late but better now than too late) and that the cops couldn't help me (if they even cared to). I'm signed up for an upcoming ccw class and am looking for other opportunities or groups to train in self defense with the firearm.

I am an Oregon transplant who had the misfortune of spending 12 years in Kalifornia, Oklahoma has been very refreshing! I have been a member of the open carry movement for a few years now and have been advocating for open carry here since I hit the red dirt. I am very impressed with what I have seen here in the short time I have been reading posts and hope to get to know everyone in time.

My name is Jim, I work out at the prison in El Reno. I've been doing that about 8 years now. I have a few pistols, shotguns, and rifles. No particular kind is a favorite so much. For the most part if it has a trigger and shoots lead out of the other end I can appreciate it. I do spend alot of time in the woods in the fall with my son try to kill our portion of the local deer population. My wife like to shoot too, the bigger the better she says, size does matter. Anyhow, stay safe.
