They block the trigger from being depressed by inertia when dropped. It's a physical block and they don't have enough mass themselves to be overcame by the same inertia. Pretty foolproof.
a 3 or 4 lb trigger operating a striker fire with a long pull? Is that not enough to over come a drop?

The articulation of the trigger won’t allow it to travel rearward unless a finger is on the trigger and straightens out the bottom part of the trigger (like a glock has, for example)
I know the mechanics of ho it works.
It serves no real purpose other than sales, to "appear" to be more safe than others
