A Drop In Auto Sear (DIAS) is considered a machinegun conversion device and is classified the same as a milled and drilled receiver (i.e. must be registered).

Go read up on the Olefson (not sure I spelled it right) case. He was convicted even though he did not have a sear installed, just the other FCG parts.

There was a lot more to the Olofson story than just full auto FCG parts.
