Selector has cam that pivots disconnector out of the way in "Auto" position.
Disconnector has tail that selector cam interacts with in "Auto" position.
Trigger is open at back so that tail of disconnector will fit.
Hammer has hook at back that interacts with auto sear.

In order to reliably function in full-auto, you would also need the auto-sear. The auto-sear would not fit into a semi AR lower without milling and drilling.

They will fit in a low shelf AR lower wont they? Just like an RDIAS will only fit low shelf lowers...

You'd still need the evil 3rd hole though >:)

The fire control group (hammer, trigger, disconnector, selector) will fit in any receiver. The original style auto-sear will not fit unless the receiver is milled out and drilled. A RDIAS does not need to be milled out or drilled, but has to have a low internal shelf to sit on. A high shelf would leave the RDIAS sticking up above the receiver.

Here is a pic of a RDIAS sitting in a low shelf lower.

And hear is a factory sear in a milled/drilled receiver.

Very informative.... I'd like to study up on this some more, just as an academic exercise - for the future, in case the SHTF and the BATFE isn't a factor anymore.

Can anyone explain how a weapon does a 3-round burst? I mean, without continuing to fire? I've always thought that might be much more useful in a real-world situation than full-rattle, personally.

Seems like this might be a better way to go, if you are a doomsdayer:

Looked at the link on ARFCom until I understood it and it is pretty neat. Dave, thanks, I'll check out that YT video when I get home.
