That stuff is hell on older small engines. Makes the fuel lines hard, and brittle. I would think by now, manufacturers would have changed them to compatible materials.
Back in the 80's when it came out for awhile, it was eating up the diaphrams on vehicle carbs. You had to buy kits to replace them that used a different material.
