I stand corrected even though I just entered this topic as I always thought it was a 'MVP' to a team.
It is awarded to the Most Oustanding player in college football. And since it is determined by 'sportswriters' I guess that leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
I think it's very tough for a defense player to win due to the fact they are trying to keep teams from scoring and they are not running up the score. Also, if Klein isn't an nfl caliber qb, then he should win since due to the stigma of the Heisman.
I've heard lots of commentary about T'eo not even being the best defensive player in college football. I was surprised he won the Maxwell and now think he has a better chance at the Heisman. Being an Aggie I am hoping Manziel wins but not so sure he will. Being a redshirt freshman is not a reason for him to lose, or at least it shouldn't be.
I may be a bit biased, but Klein should win it. But he won't. Kansas State is hated by the national media, and has been snubbed by the BCS probably more than any other BCS school; they're a thorn in the side to the BCS and sports media. Manziel is a great player, and if he keeps it up, should win the Heisman by the time he graduates. You might as well pencil in T'eo; Notre Dame has always been a darling, and they're #1. Klein doesn't stand a chance, and it's a damned shame.
Oh - and "wusses at QB position"? Anyone who'd say that about Klein hasn't seen him play very much.
I don't know which one of these guys is best or who deserves to win the Heisman. However, I do know that the above statement is true BS. Without Klein, K-State doesn't beat OU or OSU and liikely would lose at least one to Baylor, Texas or TCU. Get objective.
Did you actually watch the OU K-State game? We turned the ball over how many times? I suppose Klein was playing on the defensive line and causing those turn overs? Give me a break.
