I have absolutely no need for an SKS,,,
But for some reason I've decided that I want one to play with.

Way back in the mid 90's I went to a gun show in California,,,
They had Chinese 10 shot SKS's for $99.00 each,,,
I bought one and 100 rounds of ammo.

I shot all the ammo the first )and only) range trip,,,
A few months later I was in a desperate bind,,,
And sold it for what I paid for it.

Now in my old age I shoot my many .22 rifles/handguns for recreation,,,
But for some reason I have this urge to fire something centerfire.

So when I am up and about again,,,
I'm going to hit a few gun shows and try to find one.

I know that $99.00 price will not be found,,,
So I'm asking advice on what I should expect to pay for one.

Any advice from you good people?

They can still be had for ~$400 if you look around. I bought my first SKS in the 90’s at a gun show in Davenport Iowa. $99 for the SKS and $100 for a 1,000 rounds. My dad bought the exact same thing that day. It was allot of fun while we had them. I eventually traded my rifle for a Russian IJ70 Makarov.

Most I see are in the $500-$700 range, once in a while a sub-$500 will pop up, but usually mismatched, or with some kind of aftermarket stock, etc. That all depends on if that matters to you. And those are Chinese. Expect to tack on an extra $300-$400 for a Russian, Romanian, or the odd Albanian. Not real familiar with the Yugos, but I'd guess they'd be about where the Chinese are.

I've had a few, and they are a really fun rifle to just shoot. No muss, no fuss.

I happen to have an extra Norinco SKS that I would be willing to sell for $400 if you are willing to provide i.d. and sign a bill of sale. Please PM me if you are interested.
